  • Pegheds (offered here only in our cellos)

    PegHeds are the original geared pegs, and are made in Winnsboro, SC by Chuck Herin.  Once installed, all you need is a thumb and index finger to tune and the peg stays put.  When humid summer weather causes friction pegs to swell and stick, or dry winter air causes shrinking and slippage, Pegheds  will hold firmly.  Prices vary with wood variety and style.  Pegs must be ordered to fit your specific cello, or you may be able to have your own pegs retrofit in some instances.  Nearly every cello here has Pegheds installed, and we highly recommend them.  If you are wishing you could use a Posture Peg, please note the stubby C peg available, which is pictured in the product gallery.  We no longer sell sets of PegHeds here, but do have them installed in cellos we sell.  We love to promote and explain them.  Go to PegHeds official website to order.

  • New Harmony Rubber Tip

    Rubber tip with plastic liner specifically designed to fit New Harmony heat-hardened steel endpin tips.   The diameter of the hole is about 9 mm, so it stretches to fit securely over either the 10 mm diameter rod, or the 8mm rod because it reaches over the collar which is 9.5 mm.   Package of 2.  See photos for a clearer understanding of why it might not fit on your non-NHM endpin.

    Akusticus plastic tailpiece,  220 mm in length, has integrated fine tuners and a wire tail loop.  This is a popular choice for fine instruments as it can help enhance volume and tone.  Weight ~ 81.8g.  There are replacement parts for this tailpiece so if you break a fine tuner, don’t throw the tailpiece away!

  • Angled Fitting w/ 10mm Endpin NHM

    This set from New Harmony Music  includes a composite fitting and a solid 10mm carbon fiber rod, 20″ long.  It is very stable when extended.  The hole in the fitting is bored at a 6-degree angle, so your cello will sit slightly more horizontal.  Cellists who have tried instruments with this setup find it very comfortable.  The diameter on the composite fitting is 27.5 mm.  The tip on this endpin is heat-hardened steel and can be resharpened.
