Self-Adjusting Bridge – Aubert
Adjustable bridges are not ideal for setting up a cello, but they can be a lifesaver in an emergency when there is no luthier or repair person close by. These bridges are available in 4/4 and fractional sizes, but not a range of diameters. They have pivoting feet since cello tops vary in curvature. That means you will be able to set your cello up, but it is not likely the bridge will be optimal in relation to your sound post and bass bar. They are available in low, medium and high so you can try to get a suitable height for playing. Handy to have available at summer music camps or if you travel.

New Harmony Rubber Tip
Rubber tip with plastic liner specifically designed to fit New Harmony heat-hardened steel endpin tips. The diameter of the hole is about 9 mm, so it stretches to fit securely over either the 10 mm diameter rod, or the 8mm rod because it reaches over the collar which is 9.5 mm. Package of 2. See photos for a clearer understanding of why it might not fit on your non-NHM endpin.

A longer-term solution is Pegheds geared pegs if you can make the investment

My Mute
My Mute, at 260 grams, with an adjustable arm that reaches down ~ 25 mm onto the bridge and securely clamps, is the most effective practice mute we have found. It is the combination of the mass and ability to suppress more vibration in the wood that makes this superior for cellists in apartments, hotel rooms, with sleeping family…anyone who needs major sound reduction while needing to still practice productively. Due to variations in bridge cut, low or high heart, the results may differ slightly. But you can see why it is a good/safe fit regardless of the bridge’s curvature.
