Bam straps (set of 2) are BLACK, padded, non-slip, comfortable, adjustable, and safe with high-quality carabiners. Straps are included with every new Bam case but can be purchased and used on any case with D-rings. *Note if your height is 5’5″ or under, you may want to order the SHORT set which will allow the case to rest a bit higher on your back.   The straps are the same length, but the shoulder cushion is 3″ shorter.   Straps should be attached at the upper D ring with the flat sides touching (see diagram).

  • Vivo Carbon Fiber case

    A new carbon fiber case from Vivo weighs 6.6 pounds. There are 7 latches, none locking.  The interior provides a broad pad at the top of the back, which runs on a Velcro track.  This allows a custom fit to your cello’s length.  The bottom suspension pad curves up the sides of the lower bouts, keeping it from shifting laterally.  The interior is generous and fits a Dimbath Ruggieri cello.  This model may not accommodate the 7/8 and 4/4 Guadagnini.   We tried  models of both, and the body length coupled with the distance from the top rib to the C peg was too short for C peg clearance.  The Vivo Hybrid modes fits those cellos, just not their Carbon model.  Comfortable handles are placed at the side and shoulder, and two shoulder straps are included.  D-rings positioned closer to the neck of the case, and a single D-ring a few inches lower on the back give you options for strap attachment.  That means whether you are short or tall, you should be able to get the case to ride comfortably on your back.   No wheels on this model.  Color options are blue and burgundy.

  • Bam Performance Case (soft)

    This is a densely-padded nylon bag with a water repellent polyurethane coating.    The interior is velvet over foam padding for some thermal  as well as shock protection.  There is leather padding over the vulnerable bridge zone, and leather handles.  The usual accessory pockets for rosin/rockstop and sheet music are present, and the bow pocket is rigidized and includes two padded sleeves.  The zipper does not stop at the C peg, but wraps around the top of the scroll to the A peg, so the bag can open flat.   Weight 6.5 pounds.    If cello length exceeds 48″ (122 mm), endpin may protrude a bit – depends on fitting and tip.  We have fit celloswith lower bouts 18.25″  (460 mm)

  • Mirage Polycarb Wide (wheels)

    Otto Musica’s Mirage model 518W weighs 10.5 pounds, has a very strong shell, wheels, and a generous interior to fit some cellos with bouts or corners too wide for other cases in this price range.  There are 4 thick and 4 thin removable pads that run on a velcro track to adjust fit for a variety of cellos.  The tongue-in-groove seal closes with 6 latches.   The side and shoulder handles are roomy which is important for some cold-weather glove-wearing cellists.  See the photo gallery to see how your cello’s dimensions compare with this cello which is a very good fit for this case, when it did not fit in a variety of others here.   Blue (in stock), Black, White

  • Fiedler bow holder with tip pocket

    Fiedler makes a bow holder set with a magnetic closure, sticky-back foam block, bow tip pocket, and mounting screws (though users we talked to just used hot glue).   If you wish to add a third bow in the lid that will parallel the fingerboard, this should have the clearance you need.   Keeping in mind case makers do not all use the same materials nor have the same clearances or shell thicknesses, results may vary.  If you are unhappy with your current velcro/snap/zip holders, you can replace them with the Fiedler.
