New edition HN1134 is based on the Brahms Complete edition, and thus includes new musical text based on the latest scholarly findings. In addition to two cello parts — one edited and one clean to make your own — it includes critical commentary.
Arrangements were published by Simrock in 1896 while Brahms was alive, so it may be presumed that he knew of and accepted them. They passed from Rostropovich to Geringas, who arranged this edition.
