Preusser – Duets for Fun (2 cellos)
$19.99This collection was formerly published as Treasure Chest of Duos. It includes 50 original works from the Baroque to the Modern era, presented in progressive order of difficulty. Includes music by Gabrielli, Haydn, Mozart, Offenbach, Bartók, and others. Music is presented in score form with both parts on a page. Pieces start in first position and gradually advance through 4th but move through multiple key signatures, have trickier rhythms. It’s nice to be in a comfortable note range when adding challenges. There are a few pieces in 3 and 4 sharps. Edited by Elmar Preusser. This is a grow-with-me volume and might make good sight-reading material when teaching students at multiple levels.

Violoncello Duets for Beginners, Volume 2 (2 cellos)
$31.99Edited by Pejtsik. This is not what we would consider “for beginners.” The first piece in this book is in tenor clef, but there is only one other — and one with the Cello I in treble clef. Pieces are not arranged by difficulty, so you will find easier pieces that stay in bass clef, no higher than 4th position, with fingerings provided. Cello I and II parts vary in difficulty in this volume, so an advanced cellist can play with a less accomplished partner. Like the earlier volume, even if you’re in familiar territory with notes, the rhythms are challenging.
