This case is part of the HighTech series, so it’s light-weight and very protective with its ABS shell, Airex foam core, and suspension pads that are broad and dense.  It has the same dimensions as the Slim model, but the leather front makes it a little heavier — 9 lbs 14 oz with both shoulder straps.   Available in 9 colors, they are usually made to order.

    Currently we have one on sale, price $2,078  HIGH TECH COMPACT weighs 4.4 kg (9.7 lbs).  With both shoulder straps, 10,4.  It fits most cellos up to 14.25″ UB, 17.5″LB.  The widest part of a cello does not always fall at the widest part of the case as contours vary.  A strong 3-ply ABS shell over an Airex foam core provides superior thermal and impact protection.     Otto Musica’s Mirage model 518W weighs 10.5 pounds, has a very strong shell, wheels, and a generous interior to fit some cellos with bouts or corners too wide for other cases in this price range.  There are 4 thick and 4 thin removable pads that run on a velcro track to adjust fit for a variety of cellos.  The tongue-in-groove seal closes with 6 latches.   The side and shoulder handles are roomy which is important for some cold-weather glove-wearing cellists.  See the photo gallery to see how your cello’s dimensions compare with this cello which is a very good fit for this case, when it did not fit in a variety of others here.  BLACK in stock.

    Fiedler makes a bow holder with a magnetic closure, sticky-back foam block, bow tip pocket, and mounting screws (though users we talked to just used hot glue).   If you wish to add a third bow in the lid that will parallel the fingerboard, this should have the space you need.   Keeping in mind case makers do not all use the same materials nor have the same dimensions or shell thicknesses, results may vary.  If you are unhappy with your current velcro/snap/zip holders, you can replace them with the Fiedler.

    Bam’s NewTech is a strong case, having a 3-ply ABS shell with internal foam core which adds shock and thermal protection.  Broad, dense foam pads support the cello under the neck block and bottom block, which structurally are the strongest parts.   If you have rigorous travel in your future, definitely consider this case if the dimensions and contours fit your specific cello, and there are adequate clearances.  See all case specs in the photo gallery.  Latch issues may be avoided by fastening the side latch under the handle first.  If this closes easily, the lid and back are aligned and all other latches should easily engage.    BLACK, BLUE, MINT
