Not to be confused with the book of Technical Exercises, this is actually a series of three books. Volume I focuses on the left hand, Volume II deals with the bow arm and wrist, and Volume III moves into thumb position. The first half of Vol. I consists of finger agility exercises, noodley things; the second half is all double stops.
Contains 40 pages of method (scales, arpeggios, double stops) and 80 pages of practice pieces ranging from beginning 1st position to thumb position studies on thirds and sixths.
A variety of studies present a range of notes in both bass and tenor clef, for your cognitive skills and fingerboard association. Then a study is presented in duet form (student/teacher), followed by pieces for cello with piano accompaniment. Selections include “Ave Maria, “Song of the Birds,” “Chanson Triste” and others.
